Shabbat ServicesServices at Beth Torah are the central part of our religious observance. Beth Torah is a participatory and egalitarian synagogue, where congregants lead services with Rabbi Raskin, and serve as weekly Torah readers. Men and women share equally in all aspects of religious observance, and you will frequently find recent Bar and Bat Mitzvah "graduates" on the bimah leading or reading. We use the traditional version of Siddur Sim Shalom, and Etz Hayim for our Torah service. Services are a mix of Hebrew and English, and transliterations are available to help everyone participate. Our Friday night services begin at 6:30PM and are followed by an Oneg Shabbat that provides a wonderful opportunity to socialize and meet new friends. Shabbat morning and Yom Tov morning services begin at 9:30 AM and a kiddush luncheon follows Shabbat morning services, which is regularly accompanied by spirited bensching (Grace After Meals) and the singing of z'mirot (traditional Shabbat songs).. Free babysitting is available for both Friday evening and Shabbat morning services. The Shabbat Services at Beth Torah are congregant led. There are many opportunities to get involved. If you would like to lead a service, or would like more information on learning the services, please contact Chuck Smith at cw.smith@verizon.net Friday Nights: 6:30 PM Childcare on Friday and Saturday |
